Can i use angelus leather paint on my RED nike dunks without rubbing the red paint off ?

i have a pair or red nikes and wanted to write something across the side in black angelus leather paint and also have some paint splatter on them too. can i just apply the paint straight to the shoe or do i have to scrub off the "factory finish"
