Laptop screen problem?

Ok, so I was just doing normal stuff on my laptop when I heard my name being called so I closed the laptop and did what I needed to do and when I opened the laptop there was some thing on there which looked like a small splatter that was other colors but mostly green/pink. Thinking not much of it, I tried to wipe it off and when I pressed on the screen it got lighter. Upon finding this I pressed a little more and wiped it and that distorted the little thing, which was about a centimeter long. I closed the laptop and got off for a little bit, thinking it would go away after time, but when I came back and opened it, it was now three inches long and I am scared there is something wrong with it... help mee?? :)
